Description

My friend Kristin kept telling me to look more sad. I TRIED.

I don't even know how America would have ended up in jail...he's ~*the country*~ after all. The old west was a tough, mean time. :I

Ahhh, this photo always takes me back to the time I actually started watching Hetalia. Lemme tell you a little story -

I think it all started quite a while ago when I was interested to see whether there was such a thing as a 'western anime' (that's an anime with a wild western setting, not the other meaning because that would never work) so I searched that or something similar online. The search yielded images of (although I really didn't know at the time) cowboy America, and after searching for a while I found this awesome photo, and looked at the comments, and got really confused at first as to why everybody was talking about America. It seems hilarious to me now, thinking back, but at the time I really didn't understand. Then it dawned on me that YOU were America, a personification of the country! Anyway, I can't remember why, but I left it at that and moved on.
Fast forward a few months to when I was in a YouTube comment section for 'We No Speak Americano' and several comments were about this thing called 'Hetalia', and I still didn't know what was going on, so I decided to actually check it out, and watch the first episode of Axis Powers. Soon after that I started to watch hundreds of AMV's, and was soon hooked.
It didn't catch me at first, but over time boy did I become addicted. I think the thing I absolutely LOVED then (and of course, still now) is the concept of personifying the countries of the world, giving them personalities and watching them interact so amazingly with each other.

And here we are in present day! I've never felt this way about an anime or manga before. Hetalia has changed my life. I used to be an outright sociopath, but I'm much more open-minded because of this quirky webcomic! I look back, and sometimes, I can't believe there was a time when I didn't know what Hetalia was. It's made me more patriotic, and I can't think or hear the name without feeling a warming in my heart. It's actually made me speculate whether everybody, in their lifetime, is destined to find at least one anime or manga they share a spiritual bond with; one that will always be their favourite.

And this awesome cosplay will always remind me of that time. Brilliant job, man!
